Statement following incident at Severn Power Construction site, Tuesday 26 May 2009

DONG Energy, owners of the 824 MW Severn Power station development at Usk near Newport South Wales, confirms that an incident occurred on the construction site shortly before 1pm on Tuesday 26 May 2009.
One man was taken to hospital in the Air Ambulance. It has been confirmed that he sustained two broken bones in his leg, and that his injuries were not life-threatening. No-one else was hurt in the incident.
Coordination of the emergency rescue services was controlled by the site’s emergency response team.
DONG would like to extend their sympathy and wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured man, and to thank the emergency services for their professionalism.
Severn Power are conducting a full inquiry into the incident, and the Heath and Safety Executive have been notified.
