Clean electricity from the wind

The energy of the wind increases by the wind speed in the third power. Therefore a good site for a wind turbine is where the average wind speed is high. In Poland these areas are typically found in the northern part of the country close to the northern coast line.

A whole list of interests has to be taken into consideration when planning the construction of wind turbines – eg wild life, bird life, existing buildings, nature conservation, wind conditions and electric grid access conditions. Therefore planning of wind power plants is always done in close cooperation with local and other public authorities.

Wind turbines produce clean and non-polluting electricity. Electricity produced by wind power reduces the use of fossil fuels such as lignite, coal, oil and natural gas which are used in traditional power stations. Thus, the total environmental strain is reduced. The Lake Ostrowo wind farm will reduce the annual emissions of carbon dioxide by approx 78,500 tonnes (CO2), the annual emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO2) by approx 244 tonnes and nitric oxides (NOx)
by 122 tonnes.
