Transformer platform installed
Waves below one metre for more than 36 hours were required, and on Saturday, 16 August it finally became a reality. Energinet.dk could commence the erection of the giant transformer platform by Horns Rev 2 offshore wind farm.

”The weather was practically ideal so we were able to successfully place the foundation within the allowed tolerance of one metre”, explains Steen K. Nielsen, Energinet.dk’s construction site manager from COWI.
The foundation is secured with four piles which are driven 30 metres into the seabed – an operation which can last up to 48 hours, when the weather is calm.
At the next settled ”weather window”, the transformer platform will follow, and then the actual transformer which by itself weighs 280 tonnes.
