Once a turbine is installed, it must undergo a number of tests. Four transfer boats are used to access the various turbines.
As the first turbines begin to produce power, cables are still being installed at the other turbines. The wind farm is put into operation gradually as each line of turbines is reported ready for operation.
A turbine tower is being installed. All parts are onboard. It takes about nine hours to erect a turbine offshore. The job requires great precision and therefore, the weather plays an important role.
Overview picture of the wind farm. In front, a line of turbines is ready for energisation and at the rear a number of foundations are ready for installation of turbines.
Below you find a short unique film of the first turbine turning and producing electricity to be transferred to shore. The film is recorded with a handheld camera from one of the transfer boats.
