Coal-fired power plants
Approx 40% of the power generation worldwide is based on coal, which makes coal the backbone of power generation; moreover a major part of the capacity is based on well-proved pulverised coal-fired (PF) technology.
We have a long tradition of developing and building high-efficient coal-fired power plants.
Light house projects, clean coal
- Esbjerg, unit 3, 400MW, world record in efficiency (45%), 1992
- Studstrup, unit 1, 150MW, cofiring straw in pulverised coal-fired unit, 1996
- Nordjylland, unit 3, 400MW, world record in efficiency (47%), 1998
- Avedøre, unit 2, 600MW, multi fuel plant, world’s most energy-efficient combined heat and power plant (94%), 2001
- Project manager for the EU-financed AD700 project (aim: steam temperature of 700 °C and efficiency of up to 54%), 2006
