Partners

Partnerships create value and spread risk
The current trend within offshore wind turbines is for an increasing number of projects to be implemented together with a partner.
DONG Energy has extensive experience of working with different partners, both industrial and financial, and we are considered an attractive partner to work with as a result of the Group’s long-running experience of developing, constructing and operating wind projects.
In September 2009, PensionDanmark took over 30% of Nysted offshore wind farm (DK) from DONG Energy. In December, a consortium consisting of Dutch venture capital firm Ampère Equity Fund and Dutch organisation PGGM became co-owners of Walney offshore wind farm (UK), currently under construction, with a share of 24.8%. PGGM manages a number of collective pension schemes. The Walney transaction means DONG Energy retains an equity interest of 50.1%, while the remaining 25.1% is still owned by Scottish & Southern Energy.
DONG Energy hopes the pension schemes’ investments in renewable energy production will pave the way for similar investments of pension funds in future wind projects.
