Anholt Offshore Wind Farm
During 2012 and 2013DONG Energy will be building Denmark’s next large-scale offshore wind farm between Djursland and the island of Anholt in Kattegat.
The wind farm will become Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm with an overall capacity of 400MW and will cover 4% of Denmark’s total power consumption based on CO2-free power.
During the summer and autumn of 2010, geotechnical investigations were carried out to determine the final layout of the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm.
The wind farm site has areas with very difficult seabed conditions, which at best will entail extra installation costs, but it could also mean that some of the proposed wind turbine locations have to be abandoned.
Construction work was commenced at the turn of the year 2011/2012 and involves a number of special vessels and employees operating in and around the area. DONG Energy has chosen the Port of Grenaa as base for the project; both during the construction phase but also in connection with the future operation of the wind farm.
The offshore wind farm will be constructed according to well-known principles based on DONG Energy’s vast experience. DONG Energy has erected half the world’s major offshore wind farms and is leading within this field.
