Waste-to-energy plants
DONG Energy produces heat and electricity at three waste-fired CHP plants located in Jutland. Together with the small-scale CHP plants, the waste-fired CHP plants supplement the primary CHP plants.
The CHP plants have a high efficiency ratio of around 90-95 % of the fired energy. At the same time most of the fuels used are CO2-neutral, which makes the CHP plant’s emission into the global environment negligible. The CHP plants have been designed to comply with the most stringent Danish and EU environmental requirements for waste incineration plants. Moreover, the fact that heat and power production are combined at the waste-fired CHP plants means that resources are better utilised than would be the case had the heat and electricity been produced separately.
The waste-fired plants are:
Haderslev CHP Plant
Horsens CHP Plant
