Stigsnæs Power Station
Stigsnæs Power Station is situated near Skælskør. The power station consists of two coal-fired production plants with an overall capacity of 409 MW of electricity and 2 MJ/s of heat.
Stigsnæs Power Station’s Unit 1 from 1966 is coal-fired and has a capacity of 143 MW.
Stigsnæs Power Station’s Unit 2 from 1970 is coal-fired and has a capacity of 266 MW. Like Unit 1, the unit was originally oil-fired, but was converted to coal-firing during the oil crisis of the 1970s. Oil is still used as a start-up and reserve fuel at both power station units.
Stigsnæs Power Station also has the deepest harbour on Zealand, the water reaching a depth of 18 metres.
