Central power stations
DONG Energy carries out a considerable part of its electricity and district heating production at its central power stations. All power stations have been extended and updated on an ongoing basis. Accordingly, their electricity and heat production is highly effective and has a minimum of environmental impact while also allowing for economically viable operation.
The power stations primarily use coal as well as oil and natural gas as fuel, but a number of stations use straw, wood chips and similar products as supplements when producing heat and electricity.
Together the power stations account for approximately 80 % of DONG Energy’s overall production of heat and electricity.
