Central power stations
A significant part of DONG Energy’s production of power and district heating takes place at our central power stations. All power stations are constantly being developed, maintained and modernised so they produce power and heat as efficiently as possible and with the least amount of environmental impact, while also ensuring cost-effective operation.
We have most recently put two new gas-fired power stations into operation in Norway and England, and are currently building one in Holland. These projects are based on our core areas of expertise within thermal power production.
Coal and natural gas are at present the power stations’ main sources of fuel, while several of them also supplement with straw, wood chips, oil and similar for power and heat production.
DONG Energy’s vision is to supply clean and reliable energy. As part of this vision we are working to reduce CO2 emissions per kilowatt hour produced from power and heat production at our power plants. In future, this means increasing the use of biomass and using less coal.
