Many different vessels will be involved in the project
The construction of Anholt Offshore Wind Farm involves a number of different vessels to solve different tasks. Some of the vessels are designed and built for special purposes, for instance vessels for geotechnical investigations, installation of foundations or cabling, and contracts must be signed for each specific vessel for the particular type of installation work the vessel is to undertake.
Other vessels such as jack-up vessels can be used for several different purposes in the installation process, and they can also be used in the operation and maintenance phase.
Weather is a decisive factor
All offshore operations are dependent on the weather and require careful planning for optimum use of periods with calm weather for installation work.
Wind and waves determine the progress of the work. During crane work in relation to installation of wind turbines, the highest allowable wind speed is typically 10m/s; however, only 8m/s during installation of blades.
