The possible harmful environmental impacts identified in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)  are taken into account in the erection of the offshore wind farm. They are minimised as much as possible taking the project's framework in terms of technology, economy and time into consideration. This also applies to the planning of activities in the construction phase.

During the construction and operation phases, an environmental management system will be implemented to among other things minimise the risk of chemical and oil spills. Measures which are not directly connected to the wind farm include eg devices for scaring sea mammals away during pile driving of the foundation piles and marking of the working area in order to minimise the risk of ship collision during the construction phase.

Experience from the construction of existing offshore wind farms at Horns Rev and Rødsand has shown that by means of relatively simple measures, it has been possible to construct the wind farms without causing any long-term adverse impacts on the surrounding environment.

 

CO2-free power production
Anholt Offshore Wind Farm will have an installed capacity of 400MW and will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm. The wind farm will be able to supply CO2-free power to 400,000 households on an annual basis, corresponding to 4% of the overall Danish power consumption. This is a significant contribution to meeting Denmark’s objective of ensuring that the percentage of renewable energy reaches above 35% by 2020.
