The EIA Process
An Environmental Impact Assessment is undertaken for the project for the time being. The Environmental Statement together with an application concerning the development of the plant is expected to be forwarded to the authorities at the end of 2008.
The assessment will address all relevant issues with regard to
- Geology, geomorphology and sedimentary processes
- Wave and tidal conditions
- Designated areas and protected species
- Benthic ecology
- Natural fish resources
- Ornithology
- Mammals
- Landscape, seascape and visual character
- Commercial fisheries
- Shipping and navigation
- Radar and airspace
- Other human activities and socio-economy
During the work, the project team has contact to a high number of statutory consultees and stakeholders with interests in the area concerned.
The working process will also include public exhibitions to be set up in the local area. These exhibitions were held in June 2008.
