The REnescience technology provides – by means of enzymes – a separation of the MSW into valuable fractions.
The technology is robust and handles MSW without prior pretreatment such as shredding or sorting.
The process runs at low temperatures and at atmospheric pressures.
Unsorted MSW is suitable for the REnescience process as well as a variety of other waste types. We have gained extended experience in processing unsorted MSW in our 1000 kg per. hour pilot plant. The waste is not shredded or pretreated in other ways prior to the enzymatic treatment.
- unsorted MSW
- no size reduction required
- suitable for a variety of other waste types

In the REnescience process the thermal pre-treatment, liquefaction and sorting are performed with no grinding or other mechanical pre-treatment of the waste. This makes the process far simpler than other known processes and with a higher recovery of the bio mass.
Non-pressurised thermal pre-treatment
The first step in the process is a non-pressurised thermal pre-treatment where the structure of the bio mass is opened to make it accessible for the enzymes in the liquefaction process.
Liquefaction of household waste
In the liquefaction process the waste is added enzymes, which provides a liquefaction of the biodegradable content of the waste and thus makes a separation of biodegradables versus C possible.

Sorting of the liquid fraction (bio-degradable) from the solid fraction (non-biodegradable) could be carried out by vibrating sieves in more steps depending on the exploitation of the downstream products.

The outputs from the REnescience process can be upgraded to valuable products in several ways:
A liquid biodegradable fraction, which is suitable as feedstock for
- bio gas production
- bio ethanol production
- production og other chemicals such a butanol
A solid fraction mainly containing plastics, which is suitable for
- incineration in WtE plants
- co-combustion in Power Plants
Metals and glass
Fertilisers.
- When household waste is processed, fertilisers are preserved and can be utilised in the fields.
