Nysted Offshore Wind Farm handed over one month ahead of schedule
On 1 December the suppliers officially handed over one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms to its owners. The wind farm is located in the Baltic Sea and the commercial commissioning took place one month ahead of the originally scheduled date – an accomplishment not seen every day in connection with projects of this size.
”It is obviously lovely to be able to reap the fruit of many years’ hard work, and I would like to commend the suppliers that it has been possible to hand over Nysted Offshore Wind Farm one moth ahead of schedule”, says project manager Per Hjelmsted from ENERGI E2.
In practice it means that all adjustments and tests on the farm have been completed, and that the guarantee period started on 1 December.
And equally impressive. Nysted Offshore Wind Farm has been built within the1.6 bn Danish kroner budget. ”With Nysted Offshore Wind Farm we have proved that we are able to carry out such huge construction projects under difficult offshore conditions within budget and time frame. The project and the experience we have gained place us as one of the leading European companies within sustainable energy”, says E2’s Senior Vice President for Technology & Engineering, Mogens Arndt. ENERGI E2 operates Nysted Offshore Wind Farm on behalf of a consortium consisting of ENERGI E2 (50%), DONG (30%) and Sydkraft (20%).
Finally, the handing over of the wind farm means that the construction site that has occupied part of Gedser harbour will be abandoned during the coming month.
