Benefits

Once operational, the Gunfleet Sands 2 offshore wind farm will be able to provide clean, renewable electricity to a significant number of households.

If the total project - phase 1 and phase 2 - is constructed, approximately 120,000 households - 75,000 and 45,000 households for Gunfleet Sands 1 and 2, respectively - or more than 20% of the households in Essex can be provided with clean electricity in the years to come

Compared to electricity generated from coal fired power plants carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere will be reduced by approx. 180,000 tonnes when Gunfleeet Sands 2 is operational. For Gunfleet Sands 1 it is 300,000 tonnes.
