Gas
Sales
We are the largest provider of natural gas to end-user customers in Denmark, with 44% of the market. In 2007, we sold 2.5 billion cubic meter of gas in Denmark and 4.7 billion cubic meter outside the country. DONG Energy also sells to regional wholesalers who supply end-user customers.
Due to gas market liberalization, we are taking steps to counteract our declining market share through geographic and demographic diversification.
Sourcing
Geographically, we obtain gas from a wide variety of sources, including:
- Denmark. Our sourcing contracts with DUC (Danish Underground Consortium) account for approximately 88% of our sourcing.
- Norway. When fully ramped up by 2010, Ormen Lange field will significantly reduce our dependence on other long-term contracts.
- Russia. Upon completion of the first Nord Stream pipeline through the Baltic Sea, our 2006 20-year agreement with Gazprom will begin deliveries of 400 million cubic meter beginning in 2011. This amount will rise 1,000 million cubic meter each year beginning in 2013, when the second stream is scheduled to come on stream.
- Germany. A 10-year agreement with WINGAS beginning in 2010 gives us approximately 500 million cubic meter per year, delivered at the Danish-German border, subject to Nord Stream pipeline production.
Finally, our 10-year agreement with WIEH beginning in 2010, delivers approximately 500 million cubic meter per year in Germany, subject to Nord Stream pipeline production. Quantities are to increase 700 million cubic meter per year in 2014.
