CDM and JI experience
As a compliance buyer DONG Energy has been active in the JI and CDM market since 2005. This involvement has resulted in procurement of credits from projects in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Types of projects include fuel switching, energy efficiency, landfill gas, wind power, power transmission and distribution.

DONG Energy performs a due diligence process to ensure that the projects fulfil the requirement stipulated in DONG Energy’s code of conduct.

Purchase of CER’s and ERU’s
DONG Energy has established a dedicated team, CO2 Funds & Purchases, who serves as the focal point for CO2 credits. This team is accruing credits from different sources.

Direct purchase
DONG Energy has established a wide network consisting of companies, consultants and embassies with the purpose of originating CO2 credits. We already have a diversified portfolio and are looking for projects, which are at an early stage as well as more developed projects that support our existing portfolio.

Funds
DONG Energy has invested in a number of funds i.e. the Danish Carbon Fund and the Umbrella Carbon Facility administered by the World Bank as well as the NEFCO Testing Ground Facility, which is a carbon finance facility structured as a Public Private partnership in the Baltic Sea Region. In July, the NEFCO Carbon Fund was established on DONG Energy’s initiative.
