Hydro

Hydroelectric power, generated by damming rivers and piping water through turbines, is inexpensive and is easy to regulate.
DONG Energy holds interests in several hydropower companies in Sweden and Norway, including:
- Kraftgården AB, Sweden, which produces 800 GWh per year from seven hydropower plants along the River Indal in central Sweden. Our 25.7% interest gives us rights to use 206 MW during peak hours, not to exceed a 155 MW daily average.
- Narvik Energy AS, Norway, a municipality-owned company with seven hydropower plants in addition to wind farms. Our 33.3% interest is strictly a financial investment with no resale privileges of the produced electricity.
- Salten Kraftsamband AS, Norway, a municipality-owned company. Our 23.7% interest is strictly a financial investment with no resale privileges of the produced electricity.
