Masnedø CHP Plant

The CHP plant on Masnedø is a straw and wood-chip-fired plant commissioned in 1996. The plant supplies electricity to the high-voltage electricity grid in Eastern Denmark and heat to Vordingborg.

The plant has a power-generating capacity of 8.3 MW of electricity and a 21 MJ/s heat-producing capacity, corresponding to approximately 90% of Vordingborg’s heat consumption and the electricity consumption of around 18,000 households. The plant consumes approximately 40,000 tonnes of straw annually, supplied by farmers from Lolland-Falster and South Zealand.
