DTU CHP plant
The CHP plant at the Technical University of Denmark was commissioned in 1998 and produces heat and electricity.
The plant consists of a natural-gas-fired combined cycle plant with both a gas and a steam turbine. Both the gas turbine and the steam turbine generate electricity, while the residual heat in the steam/water is used for district heating.
The plant’s capacity is 32 MJ/s of heat and 38 MW of electricity. This means that the CHP plant can supply heat to around 9,000 households in the area and electricity to approximately 40,000 households. The annual consumption of natural gas is approximately 30 million m³.
