Syd Arne
The Syd Arne accumulation is located in Licence 7/89. Hess Denmark is the field operator while we are cooperator (drilling) and a major partner with 34.375% of the field with the other partners being Noreco and Danoil A/S.
The field was declared commercial in April 1996 with the Danish Energy Authority (DEA) approving the original Plan for Development and Operation in August 1997. Production commenced in July 1999 with the first gas export taking place in November of that year. Syd Arne is an important asset being one of the largest producing fields in our portfolio.
The field is one of the most northerly chalk reservoir fields in the Danish North Sea. Oil and associated gas is produced from the Danian and Maastrichtian Chalk reservoirs at depths of approximately 2.7-2.9 kilometre below sea level. Oil production is pressure-supported by water injection.
The Syd Arne platform is a combined wellhead, processing and accommodation facility (with accommodation for 57 personnel). The produced oil is stored in an 87,000 m3 storage tank on the seabed before being exported to shore by tanker. The produced gas is exported through a subsea pipeline to Jutland (Nybro)
