We are the operator of the fields in the Siri cluster located on the Danish Continental Shelf close to the Norwegian Border, approximately 250 km NW of Esbjerg on the west coast of Denmark. We have been the field operator since 2002. The cluster contains nine fields, all producing from Palaeocene sandstone reservoirs located between 1,800 and 2,200 meters below sea level.

Amongst the top 10 per cent
As operator, DONG Energy has brought Siri up amongst the top 10% most cost effective platforms in the North Sea.
DONG Energy’s focus on optimisation and development of new reserves means that we have already prolonged the lifespan of the Siri area from 2007, as originally planned, until 2016. We envision a further extension of the life expectancy, in order to continue production from Siri until 2020.
About Siri area
The Siri area includes the fields Siri, Nini, Cecilie and Stine.
Siri has produced since 1999. DONG Energy took over from Statoil in 2002 as operator of the Siri field.
At the end of August 2007, the Siri area reached production of 15 million m3 of oil.
The Siri platform
The Siri platform, which started production from the Siri field in 1999, is the central processing and offloading facility in the cluster with accommodation for 60 people.
The Siri platform, situated on a depth of 60 meters, is designed as an integrated jack-up platform. It means that the platform contains both well-head, processing and accommodation, and that the legs of the unit can be retracted in order to move the platform to a different location.
Oil is stored in the 50,000 cubic metre tank located on the seabed at the base of the platform prior to being offloaded into dedicated tankers for export.
Production from all the fields is supported by a waterflood programme. Produced water is re-injected into the reservoirs while the excess gas is re-injected into the Siri field to improve total oil recovery.
The Nini, Cecilie and Stine fields
The Nini and Cecilie fields are produced via remotely operated unmanned platforms tied back to the Siri platform.
Production from these two fields began in 2003. The Stine field came on-stream in 2004 and is produced from a subsea template tied back to the Siri platform.
The Stine field produces via subsea installations. The Nini and Cecilie fields are equipped with satellite platforms.
Focus on safety and environment
DONG Energy has very high ambitions regarding safety and the environment. Therefore these areas are a natural part of the procedures in the work we undertake, in the way we work and in the systems we utilise.
Safety is of the highest priority at DONG Energy. Safety courses are obligatory for everyone, who works at Siri and DONG Energy has a very close working relationship with subcontractors, ensuring that they and their employees share the safety culture of DONG Energy.
A substantial amount of water comes up with the oil. On the platform, the water is separated from the oil and most of the water is then re-injected. The objective is that 90% of the water is re-injected. The remaining water is led into the sea. We aim for the oil content of this water to be no more than 25ppm, the maximum allowed content being 30ppm.
Wherever possible, DONG Energy uses environmentally friendly chemicals. Furthermore, we continuously work in industry fora and with our contractors to develop the necessary ancillary materials with the least effect on the environment.
