Haslev CHP Plant
The CHP plant at Haslev was commissioned in 1989 and was at that time the world’s first straw-fired CHP plant. Haslev CHP Plant supplies electricity to the high-voltage electricity grid in Eastern Denmark and district heating to around 2,000 households in the area around Haslev.
Haslev CHP Plant was converted in 1999. The straw transport system was replaced and more robust burners were installed, and the plant was equipped with a new control system. The conversion enabled the plant to utilize more of the energy in the fuel, thereby reducing the environmental impact.
The CHP plant uses approximately 26,000 tonnes of straw annually and has a capacity of 5 MW of electricity and 13 MJ/s of heat.
