Electricity distribution
The electricity distribution is concentrated around Copenhagen and the north eastern part of Zeeland. The grid comprises 19,000 kilometres of cables and overhead lines and about 10,000 transformer stations. In 2010 approx. 980,000 power take-off points were supplied with electricity through DONG Energy’s distribution net, corresponding to 30% of all power take-off points in Denmark. In 2010 the total amount of distributed electricity was about nine billion kWh, equivalent to 27% of the distribution in Denmark.
Strengthening reliability of supply
DONG Energy is currently exchanging about 4,000 km of overhead lines with underground cables. This makes the power supply less vulnerable to storm damage and it also improves the appearance of the local areas. In 2010 we completed the areas that were most exposed to storm damage. The cable-laying process is expected to be completed during in 2014.
