Energy Production Impact

In producing energy, DONG Energy substantially impacts the environment. This is particularly true of oil and gas production at offshore platforms in the North Sea and electricity and heat production at fuel-powered power stations.



Our goal is to minimise our environmental impact during these processes by:

  • Installing various environmental facilities in these locations
  • Improving emissions and discharges through target-oriented management
  • Reducing our CO2, SO2, and NOx emissions and particles to the atmosphere, to minimise their contribution to the greenhouse effect, acid rain, etc.
  • Replacing harmful chemicals with those that are less so to sensitive marine environments
  • Increasing our reliance on renewable energy sources
  • Working to eliminate CO2 from our power station emissions through our CASTOR project
  • Converting straw into electricity and ethanol as an alternative to petrol through our IBUS programme
  • Improving coal-firing efficiency. Through our AD700 project, we aim to increase combustion temperatures to 700º C to achieve even more efficient coal combustion and to reduce carbon emissions

Inbicon

DONG Energy has established a subsidiary, Inbicon, with the specific purpose of commercialising  the 2nd generation bioethanol technology developed in DONG Energy.
