Close partnership between DONG Energy and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) to develop energy supplies for the future leads to signing of new partnership agreement in the energy field.
The agreement will enable DONG Energy and DTU to launch a range of training and research initiatives. DONG Energy will contribute an amount of around DKK 30 million over three years. This contribution is intended to ensure the availability of highly qualified engineers within the fields of energy and climate and more specifically to strengthen the collaboration between the educational and research environments in Denmark and the energy industry.
Lars Pallesen, rector at DTU, is pleased about the agreement and the potential it offers:
"At DTU, we have had a good and fruitful partnership with DONG Energy for more than 25 years. This agreement provides for a continuation and further strengthening of that partnership. We pool the resources of education, research and the business sector to maximise innovation in the energy sector and provide the best qualified professionals in the area", said DTU rector Lars Pallesen about the agreement.
The agreement is an important means to intensifying efforts within areas such as biomass, CO2 reduction and an efficient power grid, not least against the backdrop of the Danish political compromise in the energy area.
Anders Eldrup, CEO of DONG Energy, emphasises the importance of the agreement from the company’s point of view:
“We plan to expand strongly over the next few years, including by developing large projects, mainly abroad, and by developing energy solutions for the future. We therefore need highly qualified employees who are able to lift technically demanding challenges. The agreement provides greater potential for exchanging technical and scientific know-how within energy technology research”, said Anders Eldrup.
The agreement defines a number of specific, joint activities aimed at strengthening the parties’ research and development in the energy area:
• DONG Energy will establish a catalogue of examination and PhD projects for use by DTU students and will make its know-how available to the students
• Joint applications for projects within technology development
• Joint technology seminars
• Joint summer university focusing on energy technology.
