The Netherlands need to commit

If the Netherlands are to increase renewable energy production, they need to make decisions for the future - now.
Commit to natural gas and higher CO2 prices.
That is the conclusion of a research study on the Dutch energy situation linked to the climate objectives of 2030 and 2050. Making a commitment to natural gas and higher CO2 prices is essential for optimum development of renewable energy sources (including biomass and offshore wind power ) as well as achieving CO2 reduction objectives
The Energy Forum NL (EFNL) is a business platform consisting of the following members DONG Energy, EBN, Eneco, GasTerra, Gasunie, GDF SUEZ and Shell.
The study contains an objective analysis of the energy mix that is necessary to achieve an CO2 reduction of 80% by 2050 in comparison to 1990. However, the study focuses on the ambitions for the next 20 years, with the derived ambition of a 40% CO2 reduction by 2030 in comparison to 1990.
