Safety ’time out’ in the oil and gas industry
DONG Energy wants the number of accidents in the offshore industry reduced to a minimum – and preferably to an absolute zero.
As part of the company’s efforts to improve safety, DONG Energy has taken the initiative for a joint event at which the company’s Danish and Norwegian oil and gas business, jointly with its main contractors, will look at how to make the working environment even safer for employees working at the installations in the North Sea.
Today, the Danish oil and gas industry experiences fewer accidents than the remainder of the Danish industry, but the ambition is to further increase safety.
”We must continuously increase the safety of our employees and suppliers. It is our most important task to ensure that no one is injured when working for us, and that no one feels pressure to continue unsafe activities”, says Søren Gath Hansen, Executive Vice President in DONG Energy and responsible for the company’s oil and gas activities.
The event will be held today, Friday 6 January, across national borders and companies. Contractors participating are Semco Maritime, Subsea7 and Maersk Drilling, companies working together with DONG Energy on large projects in the North Sea.
