DONG Energy gets oil and gas licenses in Norway
The Norwegian department for oil and energy has awarded oil and gas licenses to 40 companies. DONG Energy is one of the companies that have received new licenses in the Norwegian Sea as well as in the Norwegian part of the North Sea and has also been awarded operatorships.
"We have been awarded all of the licenses we applied for. The licenses are stated close to some of the areas, where we already produces oil and gas. The new licenses strengthen our exploration portfolio in Norway," said Søren Gath Hansen, Executive Vice President in DONG Energy and responsible for the companies' oil and gas activities.
The licenses was awarded under the so-called APA-round – awards in predefined areas. The APA takes place every year and awards licenses in predefined and mature areas. Areas which already hold producing fields giving authorities and industry thorough knowledge on the geology.
