DONG Energy supporting transparency in the oil and gas industry
DONG Energy has decided to support EITI that works for transparency in financial reporting related to the oil and gas industry.
Searching for oil and gas in Denmark, United Kingdom and Norway is an important part of DONG Energy’s business. And in actual practice it is DONG Energy’s oil and gas business, DONG E&P, who supports EITI. In Norway, DONG E&P has reported financial data according to the EITI standard since 2009, as Norway is a compliant country of EITI. Denmark and United Kingdom are supporting countries.
“It is part of DONG Energy’s policy to refrain from corruption and other unethical business conduct. For the same reason we joined the UN Global Compact’s ten principles covering the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption in 2006. Now as a next natural step we also support the EITI”, says Charlotte Strand, Vice President and Head of Finance in DONG E&P.
About EITI
EITI – Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative – constitutes a coalition of governments, companies and civil society. In brief EITI is a globally developed standard that promotes revenue transparency at the national level through public reporting of company payments and government revenues.
The objective is to strengthen governance through increased transparency on the revenues governments receive from the extractive industries like the oil, gas and mining industries.
