All turbines at Anholt offshore wind farm now operational

Facts about the Anholt offshore wind farm

  • The Anholt offshore wind farm will be officially opened on 4 September 2013 in the presence of the Danish Royal Couple.

  • The farm will have a total of 111 turbines each with a capacity of 3.6 MW.

  • With a total capacity of 400 MW, the farm will be capable of generating power equivalent to the annual consumption of 400,000 Danish households.

  • The farm was constructed in the period 2012-2013 and covers an area of 88 m2 between Djursland and the island of Anholt.

 

Fact about the technology

  • The turbine supplier is Siemens Wind Power.

  • The nacelles were manufactured at Siemens’ factory in Brande, the blades in Aalborg and the towers in Herning and Varde.

  • Each turbine weighs 460 tonnes, with each blade weighing 18 tonnes, the tower 200 tonnes and the nacelle 205 tonnes.

  • The 111 foundations were manufactured in Aalborg by Bladt Industries and installed by MT Højgaard.

  • The foundations vary in length between 33-47 metres and weigh between 400-630 tonnes.

  • Energinet.dk has established and operates the transformer platform as well as the transmission cable that exports the power to shore.
