Guide to financial definitions and terms
These are explanations of some of the important financial terms and concepts mentioned throughout this website and in other DONG Energy materials.

 

EBITDA Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation
EBITDA margin EBITDA divided by revenue
EBITDA restated to reflect special hydrocarbon tax Oil and gas exploration and production are typically subject to hydrocarbon taxation in addition to the normal corporate taxation.
EBIT Earnings before interest and taxes
EBIT margin EBIT divided by revenue
EPS Earnings per share
Earnings per share Profit for the period* divided by average number of shares* Profit for the period attributable to shareholders in DONG Energy A/S less coupon payments on hybrid capital after tax
Dividend per share Dividend divided by average number of shares
Payout ratio * Profit for the period attributable to shareholders in DONG Energy A/S less coupon payments on hybrid capital after tax
Average number of shares * D = number of days from the last capital increase to year end
Free cash flows to equity (with acquisitions) Cash flow from operating and investing activities
Free cash flows to equity (without acquisitions) Cash flow from operating and investing activities, plus/minus cash flows from acquisitions and disposals of enterprises
Net interest-bearing debt Interest-bearing liabilities less interest-bearing assets
Capital employed Equity plus/minus gains/losses relating to hedging instruments on equity + net interest-bearing debt
Financial gearing Net interest-bearing debt to total equity
P/E The official price quoted on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange divided by net profit.
Price earnings. Shows a share's market price in proportion to its earnings.
