In connection with our Green IT strategy efforts, DONG Energy was compared with other businesses, and these comparisons showed that we are already at the “green” end of the curve in terms of information technology. However, in our capacity as an energy business we will continue to actively minimise our environmental and climate impact, and this also applies to IT.

We have defined a Green IT strategy that involves a two-tiered effort: A direct level aimed at limiting our energy consumption in connection with the use of IT equipment and ensuring that our IT equipment is as environmentally compatible as possible. The other level is about using our IT systems to reduce DONG Energy's overall environmental impact.
Today, DONG Energy spends a lot of resources on physical meetings between employees from across the globe. Our Green IT strategy is aimed at changing that. We must establish more and better options for arranging video and web conference calls and make it easier to use the systems. This should reduce our environmental impact through lower mileages and may also change passive driving time into efficient working time.
We are responsible for ensuring optimum IT support & services for the business units in DONG Energy.
We ensure master planning and pipeline management of all projects and ideas within Denmark as well as internationally.

Finally we operate Service Desk with 1st and 2nd level support.

We are responsible for planning and development of the information and application architecture within DONG Energy regarding the application landscape.
The development and maintenance of systems and applications to support the business processes is also found in this department.

We are responsible for design and deployment of desktops and printing concepts throughout the organization.

DONG Energy’s activities in the energy trading field have increased significantly in recent years. This is a result of factors such as the liberalisation of the power and gas markets and, not least, our strategy of being an active player in the northern European energy markets.
This development places high demands on the processes and systems within our markets division. Previously, our activities focused on a small number of gas contracts or on power trading on the Nordic power exchange, Nord Pool. Our systems now increasingly have to handle a vast array of transactions on many different markets and encompass a great variety of energy products.
At the beginning of 2007 we set up a programme with the aim of developing a durable, flexible and scalable business structure. The business structure is intended to improve the processes, data and systems assisting trading, optimisation, portfolio and risk management – as well as financial and invoicing functions – across the entire energy portfolio.
One of the programme’s most important accomplishments is the implementation of a completely new trading and risk management system. The implementation of the new system is expected to continue through to 2012.
