Mogens Skovgaard Jensen, Semi-skilled Worker
Why DONG Energy?
There are lots of new challenges every day, involving split-second decisions, constant planning and adjustments. Plenty of interesting jobs – and lots to sink your teeth into. We have able colleagues at the workshops, who turn out for technical problems, so there is a good sense of teamwork and unity.

I got a job as porter at the Studstrup Power plant in 1995. The post was eliminated in 2000 and since then I have been working as a semi-skilled labourer at the port. The large Studstrup Power plant is located at Kalø bay, north of Aarhus. I work at the coal harbour, unloading coal. We fill eight silos twice a day and it is our responsibility to make sure there is always enough coal for the production.
The work relies on the elements
At the plant, we are the glue that holds everything together. There are always new challenges and we do not know what is going to happen tomorrow. One of the units may have been taken out of service because of increased wind energy production. Or if the weather suddenly takes a cold turn, we go at it hammer and tongs. They are all factors that affect unloading and transporting the coal.
