Gregers Dam, Senior geologist
Why DONG Energy?
I have previously done research in Greenland, where I spent a lot of time working by myself. Now I enjoy applying my knowledge actively at a workplace equipped with state-of-the-art technology and where our efforts yield tangible results.

Ten other colleagues and I work with the exploration of oil and natural gas in an area called West of Shetland, covering the waters between Scotland and the Faroe Islands. Only parts of West of Shetland have been explored so far, but the sector is very promising.
Years of analyses
Our work here involves analysing seismic data collected in the sector by our prospecting ships and data taken from West of Shetland wells. For instance, we just spent three months reviewing data for a licensing round and our analyses enabled us to submit a tender for new licenses in the area.
Wells are our field lab
To a geologist, a well is the actual laboratory. This is where we get to see whether our models “hold water”, so to speak. In other words, they prove whether gas or oil actually exist within a licensed area.
